Term 4, week 3

This week in literacy we are learning...

* Handwriting - The letter Ww (it is from the Uu family and is formed downwards).
* Grammar - Conjunctions (joining words, such as, and, but, then, so, or).
* Writing - Recount writing
* Reading - focusing on comprehension (asking children questions about the books they are reading to check for understanding).

This week in maths we are learning...

* Before and after numbers
* Place value

Ou integrated topic is Australian Animals and this week we are learning about Marsupial Mammals.

* Grammar - full stops and capital letters.

* Writing - recounts.

This week in maths we are learning...

* Fractions (1/2, 1/3 and 1/4) & Time (o'clock and half past).

This week in integrated we are learning about Mammals.

This week in literacy we are learning about...

* Handwriting - the letter 'U' (a downwards letter).
* Grammar - Full stop and capital letters.
* Writing - Recounts.

This week in numeracy we are learning about...

* Number patterns - counting by 2's, 5's, 10's and starting at different numbers between 0-100.

This week in integrated we are learning about...

* Australian animals - What do we know? What do we want to find out? What is our favourite Australian animal?

Welcome back 1E! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are excited to get back to school to see your friends, your teachers and get learning. This term our topic is Australian Animals and we have an exciting excursion coming up. We also have a project that will be going home shortly. I'm looking forward to a great term 4!
